Vue d'ensemble

The Sr. Tax Analyst shall ensure that the company complies with all relevant corporate income tax laws on a timely basis. The incumbent will also provide tax information for financial statement reporting, and will assist the Income Tax Manager in carrying out the R&D and/or the transfer pricing projects.

Responsabilités

  • Compile, prepare, analyze and/or review Lafarge Canada Inc.’s tax returns
  • Compile, prepare and analyze Lafarge Canada Inc’s subsidiaries tax returns
  • Calculate or review legal entity year end tax provision for income tax
  • Participate in Lafarge Canada Inc.’s subsidiaries year end consolidated tax provision reconciliation
  • Provide information and answers on tax assessors and external auditor’s queries for designated companies.
  • Assist the Income Tax Manager in performing R&D and/or transfer pricing project including T106s and T1134s
  • Maintain files to support all filing positions, accounting entries, assessment/audit information etc.
  • Responsible for all other compliance matters for designated companies
  • Must keep abreast with the federal and provincial income tax rules and regulations
  • Achieve tax savings
  • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas

Results/Accountabilities

 

  • Delivery of tax returns on schedule with a minimum of errors detected on review or subsequent audit
  • Delivery of tax provision calculation on schedule with a minimum of errors detected on review.
  • Preparation of accurate and concise written responses to audit or internal enquiries
  • Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace, appropriately escalating safety issues to management, and participating in safety initiatives when required
  • Internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources

Relationship with Others' Jobs:

 

  • The Sr. Tax Analyst reports to the Income Tax Manager who in turn reports to the Director of Tax – Canada
  • Close interaction with Business Unit and Regional Finance Staff
  • Close interaction with other members of the tax team.

Compétences

Education and Work Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree preferably in accounting, business, commerce or equivalent experience
  • Professional accounting designation preferred (CA, CMA, CGA or CPA)
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of large corporation accounting exposure with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Tax.
  • Master degree or CICA in-depth tax course completion is preferable.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced computer proficiency – significant spreadsheet skills
  • Experience with online research materials and tax compliance software
  • Familiarity with different software packages, research software, computer communications, databases, SAP and other software, an asset
  • Very good knowledge of the tax legislation as well as accounting principles
