    Vue d'ensemble

    The Pay & Benefits Specialist provides excellent customer service to employees, retirees, and vendors, responding in a professional and timely manner to phone and email inquiries. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries on a full range of HR and Payroll topics including benefits, policies, withholding amounts and the handling of employee level requests and changes as they relate to benefits, HR policies and payroll and employee activities.

    Responsabilités

    • Respond to inquiries on a full range of HR and Payroll topics including benefits, policies, withholding amounts, and other similar employment-related topics
    • Support employees with life events in US and Canada such as births, moving, marriage, etc by phone and email
    • End to end processing of service requests relating to new hires, terminations, salary changes, special payments, and disability administration
    • Investigate and resolve Service Now tickets relating to employee issues including but not limited to pension, benefits and payroll as well as monitor, priortise, and assign to other teams as required
    • End to end processing of leaves absence, and disability administration
    • Review and resolve employee data errors for accuracy from Workday to SAP Interface
    • Complete peer audit requests as required
    • Support employee requests such by providing employee documentation such as verification of employment and benefit verification
    • Process Death Claims for active employees and retirees
    • Initiate Defined Benefit Pension plan retirement calculations by providing earnings information to the vendor as well producing the retirement benefit package for employees whilst ensuring accuracy
    • Execute Benefit Enrollments for Hourly and assist Salary employees with benefit enrolment navigation as well as annual open enrollment process
    • Process all Benefit Payments for inactive employees to ensure payment of benefits sent to lockbox and update vendors
    • Collaborate with other H2R departments, Corporate Teams and line management to improve on employee services
    • Directing to employees to different resources and vendors including benefits, Retirement, EAP etc
    • Ensure compliance with all legislative updates in both Canada and the US
    • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures – communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards and violations of policy or law
    • Support Year End processes to ensure integrity of employee data and participate in the Year End process where required
    • Promote the use of Workday and intranet to employees and managers where appropriate
    • Prioritize work to meet deadlines and document all activity related to employee cases
    • Participate on special projects as required
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas

    Results/Accountabilities:

    • Accurate and timely completion of mylife service related activities
    • Minimize missed payments, penalties or interest charges
    • Compliance with controls, procedures and legislation including staying current with payroll and benefits legislation
    • Fully support/implement process improvement initiatives, as well as the use of new tools and technology
    • Provide support to H2R team members related to projects and required testing
    • Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace, appropriately escalating safety issues to management, and participating in safety initiatives
    • Prompt, courteous and accurate responses to inquiries
    • Timely resolution to escalated and/or sensitive employee issues
    • Daily SLA targets, deadlines and commitments are met
    • Accurate data maintained in systems
    • Successful management of end to end disability leaves with vendor, employee and HR
    • Service and processing standards are adhered to
    • The safety culture of LafargeHolcim is enhanced by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace, ensuring departmental representation on the Health & Safety Committee, and demonstrating support to organizational safety initiatives
    • Internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources.

    Compétences

    Education:

    • Undergraduate or College degree in Business, HR or related field, or equivalent experience
    • Professional HR/Payroll/Benefits designation (preferred), or willingness to obtain designation (i.e. CPA, CHRP, SHRP or CEBS)

     

    Work Experience:

    • 3-5 years experience in Customer Service, Human Resources/Canadian or US Benefit Administration or Canadian or US Payroll
    • Experience working with unionized and retired employees
    • Experience with benefit plan administration
    • Experience with payroll a definite asset

     

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Customer focused approach with excellent organization
    • Interpersonal and communication skills
    • Effective understanding and listening skills
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of Workday and SAP an asset
    • Good knowledge of HRIS or payroll system(s), and call center software a plus.
    • Good understanding of governmental legislation related to Human Resources and/or Payroll
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment within a work team
